@prende.com - Online Communities, Learning and Communication

The project @prende.com intents to study knowledge appropriation forms, in the scope of online education, emphasizing the dynamics of interpersonal relations, learning processes and mediating tools used in these processes. Comprehending education as a cultural construct, our purpose is to study the importance of the new decentralized and interactive instruments, available online, in students' learning processes.


CiberPlayground

This Portal demonstrated the possibility of creating and nurturing a kindergarten institutional network community (15 institutions) sustained on web technologies and services. It has services specifically designed for adults and children and can still be consulted at http://www.cpj.ua.pt/


Professional integration of graduates in Journalism and Mass Communication Sciences – Oporto Context

The aim of this research is to understand how graduates in Journalism and Mass Communication Sciences are being professionally integrated into the mass media of a portuguese town - Oporto. So, from our standpoint of view, it is important to analyse the relations between the University and the labour market, if we want to prepare the students to face the actual conditions.


Science in the Portuguese Press

It is of interest to know how scientific information and the results of research have been reported to the general public by the news media, as individuals often use this information to form opinions and to make decisions. More broadly, science and technology constitute a structural issue of modernity, and consequently a core issue of the modern institutions crisis and the paradigmatic change that many authors refer as the emergence of post-modernity.


Science on TV

The communication of scientific subjects is more than the process of “supplying” citizens with information; therefore, this communication raises several issues that exceed the mere transmission of knowledge, such as the perception of science in the current world, the role played by the scientist in the society, the consequences of the scientific and technological development and opinion-making procedures towards science, among others.
