Para o estudo do Paradigma Patrimonialista e Custodial

Public Libraries and Archives and those who manage it, makes clear how, in Portugal, the so called documentary techniques (or science), public services, documentation / information and education to train librarians archivists made their statement. All these elements, taken together, form a building with consistency and adjusted to a perspective in which the custody of documents, conservation and enhancement of heritage and dissemination of information in the service of researchers (mostly historians) are the key lines. The consolidation of this model was not, however, free from constraints and ruptures, so it can be said that the paradigm in construction has generated in its midst, the crisis factors that would make it question itself when the galloping development the technology overtook.

FERNANDA RIBEIRO has a degree in History and a Ph.D. in Document Sciences by Faculdade de Letras of Oporto University. Does research in the field of Information Science, whose results have been published in several books and scientific journals.
